What You'll Need

  • 1 lb (454 g) Ottawa Valley Meats Honey Garlic Sausages, thawed
  • 300 g penne or rotini pasta (gluten-free if preferred)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce (or gluten-free tamari)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • Up to 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or sliced green onions, for garnish

Let's Get Cooking

  1. Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook your pasta according to package instructions until just shy of al dente. Before draining, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water.

  2. Brown the Sausages

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the whole sausages and cook, turning occasionally, until beautifully browned and cooked through, approximately 12–15 minutes depending on thickness. Ensure they reach an internal temperature of 71°C (160°F). Remove, rest briefly, and slice into bite-sized rounds.

  3. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce

Reduce heat to medium-low. Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce (or tamari), apple cider vinegar, and optional red pepper flakes. Pour into the skillet and simmer gently for 1–2 minutes.

  4. Bring Everything Together

Return the sliced sausages to the skillet and add the cooked pasta. Toss everything together until coated in that delicious honey garlic sauce.

Add a little reserved pasta water at a time until the sauce is glossy and clings beautifully to the pasta.

  5. Garnish and Enjoy!

Remove from heat and finish with fresh parsley or sliced green onions. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Make It Your Own

Add some greens: Broccoli florets, snap peas, or sliced bell peppers are delicious additions. Sauté them after removing the sausages and before preparing the sauce.

Turn up the heat: Add extra red pepper flakes or a little chili oil for a sweet-and-spicy kick.

Leftovers? Refrigerate promptly in an airtight container and enjoy within 3–4 days. Reheat thoroughly, adding a splash of water to loosen the sauce.
