They say you eat with your eyes before your stomach, so why not really enhance our amazing protein with those perfect grill marks that really make your mouth water!
To get those perfect grill marks on your meat, it all starts with a smoking hot grill (500 F). Place your meat at a 45-degree angle directly on a hot spot. A quarter of the way through cooking, turn the meat another 45 degrees. This will create the crisscross grill marks that you are looking for. As the meat is cooking, do not touch or move the meat.
Once the protein has cooked enough on the first side, flip the steak over and again place it at a 45 degree angle. You will have to rotate the steak sooner on this side, as the meat is already warm and it won’t take as long to cook.
If you prefer to have the crisscross marks straight across the meat, follow the same method but place your steak at a 90-degree angle. When the meat is cooked to desired doneness, remove it from the grill with clean tongs, and place it on a clean plate. Do not use the same plate the raw meat was on.
Place the side of the meat that was most recently on the grill face up, as placing the hot side down will trap the heat. Allow the steak to rest at least 5 minutes before serving.
Have fun and get grilling!!
